Clint Smith is a staff writer at The Atlantic. He is the author of the narrative nonfiction book, How the Word Is Passed, and the poetry collections, Counting Descent and Above Ground.

Turan Mullins
Vice President for Inclusion and Engagement at U.S. Soccer
Dr. Turan Mullins assists in the development of the organization’s strategy for diversity, equity, and inclusion. With a focus on fostering a culture of belonging, he brings extensive expertise in developing initiatives that drive impactful change across all levels of the organization.
Dr. Mullins holds a B.A. in Corporate Communications from Southeast Missouri State University, as well as an M.A. in Strategic Communication and an Ed.D. in Higher Education Leadership from Maryville University. His leadership combines strategic insight with a deep commitment to enhancing inclusivity within the soccer community and beyond.
